A woman from Northern Ireland has brought two employment tribunal claims against her employer, and won them both, reports the BBC.
Anna Stirrup had worked for a dry cleaners for three years when she was told by her employer that, at age 50, she was too old to continue to work for five days a week. She raised an age discrimination tribunal claim, and was awarded just under £6,000 for the harassment she had suffered.
She continued to work for the same dry cleaners, but six weeks later she was accused of gross misconduct and fired. She took her employer to an employment tribunal for a second time, which ruled that her dismissal was unfair and that she had been unlawfully victimised. She was awarded almost £25,000.
