Lord Sugar has criticised current UK employment laws which prevent employers from being able to ask prospective female employees during a recruitment interview about their plans with regard to having children and childcare.
According to the BBC, Lord Sugar made the comments during a House of Lords debate in advance of the centenary of International Women's Day, where he described the current rules and regulations as “counterproductive”.
He instead recommended that women should be upfront about their family situation during interviews, reports the BBC, so that the recruitment process can instead focus on what skills they they can bring to the job.
