New Early Conciliation Service Proves Popular in Solving Employment Disputes

Expert and advisor in matters of the work place, Acas has published it’s first quarterly update outlining details of the functioning of Early Conciliation.

Early Conciliation, launched 6 April 2014 provides that if anyone is looking to make an employment tribunal claim, they must first inform Acas. Acas will then assist in resolving the dispute quickly and without need for legal action, with the cooperation of both parties.

The statistics published recently in relation to the Early Reconciliation service show that the service hs been very popular, with around 1000 people contacting Acas in the month of the launch, and this increasing to around 1600 in subsequent months. Almost 17,000 cases have been dealth with by Acas so far.

Anne Sharp, Acas Chief Executive said:

"Early Conciliation has got off to a good start and has given us the chance to help more people resolve their disputes early. Early Conciliation has only been running for three months and it is still too soon to give a comprehensive analysis of the full impact of our new service but early indications are very positive."
