To make the EU single market work better for workers and for business, the European Commission has proposed new rules to increase the protection of workers temporarily posted abroad.

In its response to a government call for evidence on the Transfer of Undertakings and Protection of Employment (TUPE) regulations, the TUC has warned that weakening TUPE risks driving down pay and increasing unemployment.

Many Scots are being ‘exploited’ by employers who feel they can treat their employees unfairly because of the recession, according to evidence published by Citizens Advice Scotland.
