A new package of proposals to reform rules for consulting staff about large scale redundancies has been published by Employment Relations Minister Norman Lamb.

An Employment Tribunal in Glasgow has awarded over £1.15 million in compensation to 104 workers who were dismissed last year at Dunfermline based Simclar International.

Commenting on the government’s call for evidence on collective redundancy, John Longworth, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), has said that the time has come for reform in this area of employment law.
