A new Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) study, reviewing conflict management within five organisations, has indicated that line managers are struggling to deal with conflict at work.

In Clyde & Co LLP and another v Bates van Winkelho, the Supreme Court has ruled that members of limited liability partnerships (LLP) can be a 'workers' in terms of of section 230(3)(b) of the Employment Rights Act 1996 and as such, are entitled to protection under the UK's whilste-blowing laws.

A new early dispute resolution service, Early Conciliation, must now be used before a claim can be taken to an Employment Tribunal. The new service is provided by Acas and requires anyone thinking of making a claim to first notify the organisation in order to try and resolve the dispute before taking legal action.
